A loan of $1,100 helped to buy two vats of fresh fish and a small motor.

Katy Karina's story

Katy, 31, is a member of the “Nuevo Edén” (New Eden) communal bank in Yarinacocha district, Ucayali department. She’s married and has three children; her husband is a boat builder.

She’s been working with Manuela Ramos loans for four years. She sells fresh fish. She has a stand in Yarinacocha’s market. She will use her new, 3000 new sol, loan to buy two vats of fresh fish and a small motor to use for fishing so that she can get fish directly and not have to go through middlemen. Katy sells fish in the afternoon. The rest of the time she dedicates to her home and to her children who are still small.

Thanks to Manuela Ramos she’s had capital to start her own business and improve her economy.
