A loan of $625 helped to buy tires, inner tubes, spark plugs etc.

Madeleine's story

Señora Madeleine is a member of the Nuevo Edén (New Eden) Community Bank in Yarinacocha district, Ucayali department. She is 42 years old and has two children, only one of whom lives with her. She is separated from her husband.

Madeleine owns two motocars (motorized rickshaws) which she rents out for a daily fee. This money is then used to maintain the motocars and to cover household expenses.

With this new loan of S/.1,700 soles, Madeleine plans to buy 2 tires, 2 inner tubes, 2 spark plugs, 2 traction systems, an indicator, 4 litres of oil, ¼ litre of grease, and wax polish.

The vehicles have to be kept in good repair so they don’t break down and are in service all the time. Then she will be able to earn more money. Madeleine wishes to continue taking out loans with Kiva partner Manuela Ramos so that in the future she can buy a new motorcar.
