A loan of $900 helped to buy bermuda shorts, swimming costumes, t-shirts, blouses, sneakers, sandals, etc.

Leila Indalecia's story

Every fortnight, the members of the 'La Mocora' community bank meet in the town of La Mocora, in Colon parish, in the city of Portoviejo. This area is known for its hard-working people who work in farming and livestock raising.

Here we meet 50 year-old Leila who is married and has three grown-up children. Only her youngest daughter still lives with her. Her husband is a professional driver.

Leila's business is selling all types of clothes and sneakers. She is always on the lookout for what is in fashion each season so that she makes more sales. She makes her sales door to door and also sells products from her home where her customers come when she has merchandise. She works three days a week in this business and it has done very well.

Leila will use this loan to buy bermuda shorts, swimming costumes, t-shirts, blouses, sneakers, sandals and other products. Her dreams are to continue to get ahead in her business and her personal life. She is a founding member of her community bank and she likes it because all her friends are very thoughtful. She would like to travel abroad.
