A loan of $675 helped to study for a master's degree.

Senia Margarita's story

The members of La Mocora Communal Bank meet every 15 days in La Mocora, which is in the Colon parish of the city of Portoviejo. This area is known for its hard-working people, who work in agriculture and ranching.

Here we meet Senia. She is 37 years old and lives in her parents' house. She has already been a member of the communal bank for four loan cycles, and she likes it for the help that they give to people like herself to advance and become more productive.

She works as a teacher in a school near where she lives. She is now studying for a master's degree in Education Administration. It is exactly for this purpose that she is applying for a loan, so that she can continue her studies. Every day she must improve her knowledge so that she can give a better education to her students, and furthermore, because it is required by the Ministry of Education. She works from Monday to Friday from 7 am to 1 pm. On Saturdays and Sundays she studies. She tells us that she loves to learn so that she can give the best to her students.

This loan will pay for part of her master's coursework. Her dreams are to finish her studies and have her own educational institution.
