A loan of $550 helped to purchase supplies for making tamales and for improvements to her home.

Dora's story

Dora is the mother of a family, and 46 years old. She lives with her two children in the agricultural Pacanga district, which is located in Chepén Province, a region that is situated more than an hour and a half from the city of Chiclayo. She has worked for fifteen years preparing and selling tamales. She makes her products at home and then offers them for sale to the general public from her home. The business has been well-received by her customers owing to the good seasonings she uses to prepare her food. Dora uses the income from this work to make ends meet for her family. Dora wants to expand her business by purchasing enough tamale-making supplies so she can increase her production and her sales, which will also allow her to make some improvements to her home. For this reason, she thought it best to request a loan of 1500 nuevos soles ($550) from Edpyme Alternativa.
