A loan of $725 helped to purchase sacks of organic fertilizer.

Francisco's story

Francisco, age 49, is an honest and hardworking gentleman. He lives with his wife Mariana. They have five children, but only two of them live in their home in the town of Sangani in the central Peruvian jungle. Franciso has been working for twenty years as a farmer. Every morning he heads out to Vista Alegre where he has his own coffee and banana crops. He is able to take care of crops with the help of workers he hires each season. What he enjoys most about his work is transporting his coffee to the city of Pichanaki in Pampa Camona. “Now that the coffee season has started, all farmers need to transport their crops so that they can have better earnings,” says Francisco. His main difficulty is paying for his children’s educational expenses. As a result, there are days when he lacks the money to acquire fertilizers so that he can provide constant care for his crops.

Francisco is a member of the Communal Bank “Gedeón de Los Olivos” (Gideon of the Olive Trees). This is his fourth loan with MFP, the institution that has given him support to improve the quality of his crops. Francisco will be harvesting coffee beans in a month. For this reason, he will use this loan to buy several sacks of organic fertilizers to apply on his crops.
