A loan of $925 helped to purchase educational materials for his daughter and pay for home repairs.

Marlon's story

Marlon, age 27, is an ambitious young man who wants to succeed on behalf of his wife Victoria and their three year old daughter Mariela. They live in their own home in the town of Sangani in the central Peruvian jungle. As a nurse technician, Marlon has worked seven years at a community health clinic in Las Palmas, which is outside of the city of Pichanaki. What he enjoys most about his work is helping people who have limited resources. These individuals are the ones most likely to suffer to from infections caused by jungle insects. However, his main complaint is his own situation since he lacks sufficient funds to improve his quality of life. “Thanks to the help of my wife, who works as a secretary at the state government office, we are able to have a decent standard of living,” says Marlon. His plans include pursuing his studies so that he can obtain a better income.

Marlon is a member of the Communal Bank “Gedeón de los Olivos” (Gideon of the Olive Trees). This is his third loan with MFP. Being part of the organization, he feels he has developed and gained the motivation to move forward. Marlon’s daughter will be starting school, so he plans to use this loan to buy materials for her classes. In addition, he will invest in repairs to his home.
