A loan of $1,950 helped a member to purchase additional products to sell in her general store.

Pamela Corales' Group's story

Pamela C. is from the village of Union, Cauayan City, Isabela. She is the leader of a seven-member group loan offered by Kiva partner, ASKI. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.
Pamela is 33 years old, married and has one school-aged child. To make a living, Pamela owns and operates a general store selling daily use products such as shampoo, soap and toothpaste in the local community. Pamela has been engaged in her business for over a year and earns approximately 6,000 PHP per month from these activities.
In 2010, Pamela joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She has successfully repaid a previous loan of 9,000 PHP from ASKI. This loan was used to purchase additional products to sell. Pamela is requesting a new loan of 16,000 PHP, which will also be used to purchase additional products to sell. This loan will be her third from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to supplement her family's income.
