Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,000 helped buy merchandise for her store.

Pedrina's story

Pedrina G. D. E. is 63 years old and lives in Guazapa, in the department of San Salvador. She lives with her husband, who works in agriculture, and her two grandchildren, who are under her care and whose parents are in the United States. Pedrina has a store where she sells groceries and basic supplies for the home. This business has provided her with the extra income that helps them pay for their house on time and also buy food and other necessities for daily life. Pedrina is asking for a loan to stock more products in her store. She will buy rice, beans, sugar, dairy products, and other items any good store needs. This is very important to her because there is a lot of competition in her area and she needs to have all items in her store to satisfy her customers and attract others who will prefer to shop at her business.
