Habari Njema Group's story

Eliza B. is an entrepreneur, and president of the Habari Njema business group, which is composed of 26 members, three of whom do not appear in the photo. She is 48 years old, a widow, and the mother of eight children who all attend school. Her husband died from a sudden illness.

Eliza B. sells “chipsi” (a type of salted fish from Uganda-Kampala). She has a booth with two lamps in a depot located on the Nyamwisi Boulevard.

She started her business with her own money consisting of small $20 commissions earned as an intermediary. She has been in business for eight years.

This new loan will allow her to replenish her stock (125 kg of chipsi). She also plans to expand her business and purchase a plot of land for her family.

Eliza B. wishes to thank Hekima for helping poor women who cannot turn to traditional banks.
