Perveen's Group's story

Perveen comes from Lahore which is Pakistan’s second largest city, known for its history and culture. She lives there in the area of Ismail Nagar with her family in a 2-room brick house. She moved here 30 years ago. She is the mother of two sons and two daughters. Her elder son works as a driver while the others stay at home. Perveen is unable to provide her children an education due to financial constraints.

She is married to S. M. who is also a driver and drives a 32-seat bus to provide transport services to the passengers. In order to financially support her family, Perveen sews clothes for her neighboring clients. She has been operating this business for the past 5 years and is an expert in her field. She receives a good number of orders every month due to the good quality of her work and her reasonable charges.

She has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah to improve her sewing business. With the loan, she will buy a new sewing machine because her old machine doesn’t produce quality work and takes much time to sew a single dress. The new machine will help her complete orders on time and earn more profits.

She hopes that the loan will be a good investment for her business and she will be able to increase her monthly income which will help her with costs relative to the marriage of her eldest son who is now 25 years old. She is a new loan applicant of Asasah and hopes that it will be a profitable experience for her.
