A loan of $900 helped to buy fruits and vegetables.

Yanis Del Carmen's story

The members of the "Mujeres Organizadas" ["Organized Women"] Communal Bank meet every 15 days in the canton of Rocafuerte. It is a place known for the delicious sweets that locals prepare, which are known throughout the country.

This is where we find Ms. Yanis. She is 46 years old, married, and has one 14 year-old daughter who is her life. Her daughter is in her third year of high school and Yanis cares for her very much. Yanis' husband is a merchant. She is the founder of her communal bank and is very happy that, thanks to the loans she has received, she has been able to expand her business.

She and her husband work selling fruits and vegetables. They have a stand in the Tarqui Market in Manta and work every day. He works from 5 AM until 4PM and she starts a little later, when her daughter leaves for school, and only works until midday so that she can take care of her daughter. They buy their merchandise from wholesale merchants that sell in the market and they bring some products from Rocafuerte.

This loan will be used to continue investing in their business of buying fruits and vegetables. Yanis' dreams are to have a store in her house and to see her daughter become a great professional.
