Sainte Jeanne D'arc Group

A loan of $3,000 helped a member buying palm oil and flour to make beignets.

Sainte Jeanne D'arc Group's story

The SAINTE JEANNE D'ARC solidarity group was created on July 15, 2010 in the 6th cycle of the Banc Villageois of the Catholic Women of Sainte Thérèse, to which it belongs. It is composed of ten women from the same church community. The group's main activities are small trade and raising pigs.

Mrs. Élizabeth S. (standing at the far left of the picture and wrapped in a pagne) is the leader of the group. She is 40 years old, a widow, and the mother of six children. She is also responsible for three other children entrusted to her care by her brother. She sells palm oil and beignets. She started this activity long before she became a member of the solidarity group.

Her new loan will allow her to boost production by strengthening her business. Her goals are to provide for all the children in her care, and to increase her savings at the Banc Villageois.

In this group: Elisabeth, Paola, Bintou, Nene, Sylvie, Helene, Cecile, Reine Marie, Helene, Khady
