A loan of $3,150 helped a member to buy tricycles to sell bread.

Las Perlas 1 Group's story

This photo was taken in the home of Mrs. Elvira, one of the members of the Las Perlas (Pearls) 1 Group, located in Veracruz, Mexico. This photo shows a group of very happy women. Mrs. Elvira began selling bread 10 years ago, and asked for a loan to buy tricycles to sell her products. Asking for the loan made her very happy because she will be able to distribute her bread in more places. She is 38 years old and did not attend school. She is married and has three children, two girls and a boy. She hopes to be able to grow her bakery and offer better service to her customers.

Angeles T. is the group's president. She is 41 years old and graduated from high school. She is married and has sold cosmetics for three years. She is asking for a loan to grow her business and buy new merchandise, as she currently does not have enough to supply for her customers' requests. She comments that with the loan, she will buy her products and will then achieve economic stability for her family and offer her children a better quality of life and professional careers.

This group is made up of ten members and it is the first time they have requested a loan.
