A loan of $200 helped to buy sacks of organic and chemical fertilizers.

Julia's story

Julia, 41, is a hardworking and loving single mother. She lives in her own home with her 4 beloved children, and what she wants most is to improve their quality of life. Julia has lived in small Paucarmarca for most of her life. When she was a small girl she learned farming from her family, and so now she cultivates corn, potatoes and peas. This work has given her the income she needs to support her family on her own. She sells everything that she harvests in the wholesale market of Tarma, which is where she can get the best prices for her products. What she likes most about her work is sowing her fields, which she does with a lot of care. She has been farming for 21 years, and what she considers most difficult is transporting her products to the wholesale market, since means of transportation are scarce in her area. Over time, she wants to buy new land so that she can increase her production. This is her 6th loan with MFP, and she has been very punctual with her payments and expects to continue to do so now. In her communal bank, she is very active and is well-liked by her fellow group members. With the 1,500 Peruvian soles she requests, she will buy organic and chemical fertilizers for her farmlands.
