Abdukarim's story

Abdukarim is married and has two children. He has a small store where he sells fabrics used for sewing national dresses. The business is located in a famous central market of Gafurov. Abdukarim has been in this business for 10 years already. He runs it with his mother, who encouraged him to start this business and is very supportive even now.

Abdukarim is requesting a loan of 5000 Somoni to purchase more goods. This business has its high season very soon. Abdukarim believes that opening second retail outlet will give him an advantage over his competitors and provide his family with more profit in the coming spring season.

Tajikistan is known for its rich history, which includes a key post along the Silk Road and the end of Alexander the Great's rule. While the people of Tajikistan are working to improve its agricultural production and manufacturing sector, nearly two-thirds of the population still live in abject poverty.
