Tabatasu Group's story

Meet the members of the “Tabatasu” group from Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. They are local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, to apply for a loan of SLL 800,000 per person. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their businesses, make more sales, and consequently improve their living conditions.

Katrine K. is the leader of this group. The 28-year-old is married to a driver and they have three children who attend primary school. Katrine has been a businesswoman for 15 years, selling palm-oil and rice. With her share of this loan, she will buy bags of rice and gallons of palm-oil to resell.
