A loan of $1,200 helped operational capital for her beauty salon.

Lidia's story

Lidia B. B. is 52 years old and lives in a house that she owns in the Andalucia neighborhood of the city of Tarija. Lidia is a single mother of three children. Due to life circumstances and her partner's infidelity, she is single and now has to work to be able to get her three children ahead in life. Lidia has worked making ‘salteñas’ (a type of Bolivian baked empanada) and has worked at a beauty salon for more than 23 years. Both of these businesses are well-known in the city.

Her beauty salon is called Noelia and she already has an assorted clientele. Lidia wants to make a better income to get ahead in life with her three children. However, she tells us that she wants to buy merchandise that will last for a while because the items she needs are becoming more expensive. As she already has experience in this area, the loan will be used for the purchase of the merchandise needed to do her job so that she can increase her income.

Lidia tells us that she wants to improve her living conditions. This is why she says that the next loan that she requests will be for improving the condition of her home.
