A loan of $900 helped to buy cement and sand, and to hire a builder.

Maria's story

María is a very cautious 76 year-old woman. She is separated and lives alone since her 5 children live in their own homes with their families. When her children were still young, María and her husband used to work in a number of businesses which were very profitable and they used the profits they made to provide for their children's well-being. They also built their own home.

María no longer carries out her old businesses owing to her age but she has persisted in finishing the building of her home. For 20 years she has been renting out her rooms and independent apartments. She is always working hard to finish off the work on her home since this allows her to rent the rooms out at a good price. María is now planning to build an additional room.

This is María's 16th loan with MFP and she says that people can trust her and be sure that she will make all her loan repayments on time as she has up until now as she would like to be able to rely on subsequent loans. She will use the loan that she is requesting to buy cement and sand, and to pay the builder who will build the walls of her room.
