A loan of $550 helped to buy more animals.

María Laura's story

María is 32 years old, married, and lives together with her husband and two dependent children in Mochumí district, a relatively commercial agricultural area in Lambayeque province which is located more than half an hour from the city of Chiclayo.

María's business is raising and selling small animals and poultry. She raises her animals in a pen which is located behind her home. She feeds them grains and natural pasture. When they have reached a good level of development she offers them for sale to the traders who often visit her area. María also prepares and sells 'chicha de jora' (a corn-based drink) from her home. She has been doing this for three years, selling to her neighbors.

María would like to acquire more animals because demand has risen. In this way, she hopes to make more profits. She would also like to buy supplies so that she can continue preparing her 'chicha de jora'. This will allow her to continue in her business. She has requested a loan for 1,500 Peruvian soles from Edpyme Alternativa to help her achieve her goal.
