Distrito 8 Group's story

The "Distrito 8" community bank is in its first loan cycle with the institution. The bank has 13 members, 2 of whom are men. The members' business activities include selling clothes, sheets and comforters; photography and selling cosmetics. They are all from Plan 3000 neighborhood. The group was founded by Mary who is the group's president. Her business is selling clothes on credit to her friends and neighbors. She buys her products on Wednesdays and Saturdays. She buys her products in bulk in Barrio Lindo market. She is requesting this loan to buy clothes in bulk.

Consuelo is the bank's treasurer. She is 24 years old, single, and doesn't have any children yet. However, she already owns her own business selling clothes and eventually she will also sell cosmetics. She is a very charismatic person and, above all, enterprising. She sells seasonal products. When she is not selling clothes she looks for electrical appliances and school supplies to sell. Consuelo lives in her parents' home and helps them. She dreams of being able to put a little money aside so that she can buy a plot of land and become independent. She will use her loan money to buy cosmetics that are on sale. All the members of her community bank are responsible and hard-working people who are grateful to the institution for the support they have offered them. One of the bank's members is not in the photo as she is taking the photo.
