A loan of $300 helped to purchase six sacks of fertilizer.

Gladys's story

Gladys, 37 years old, is a courageous single mother with three children, who she cares for and educates with great care - they are her reason for living. They all live together in her parents' house in the hamlet of Huallquin. This spirited woman works in agriculture. Twenty years ago she began to work the land sowing potatoes, peas and ullucos; after fertilizing them, washing them and harvesting them, they are then sold in the city's wholesale market. Yet, during the months when her products have already been sown, she sells kilos of potatoes at the market fairs in Tarma every Thursday and Sunday. This woman's desire to make ends meet is impressive, and her ultimate motivation is to get by and make her children into professional people. She belongs to the communal bank "Nuevo Amanecer Renovado", and this is her sixth loan with MFP, where she is a well liked member for her work and her sense of responsibility. Gladys will sow the "Yungay" variety of potato, for which she will use the loan to buy 6 sacks of organic fertilizer to scatter over her fields when they are sown for the next harvest.
