A loan of $375 helped purchasing spare parts.

Moussa's story

Born on August 9, 1978 in N’Golo-Diassa, about 6 km from the city of Sikasso, Mr. Moussa B. is married and the father of two sons. He lives with his wife and children in a traditional extended family in his native village (in the third administrative region of Mali).

For over eight years, Mr. B. has been working as a car mechanic. In order to make it easier for his clients to obtain spare parts, he also purchases and sells spare parts. He is very much sought after by customers due to quality of his goods. In order to satisfy growing customer demand, two years ago he decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution. He has been a member for two years and is now on his fourth individual loan. The previous loans have all been repaid. He plans to use this fourth loan to purchase spare parts, such as connecting rods, camshaft, pistons, wheel rims, etc. The wares (spare parts) are purchased on the spot as the cars are being taken apart and then sold individually in his car repair shop.

With this loan, he plans to achieve an average monthly income of 95,000 West African francs, which will basically be used to cover everyday family expenses, pay off the interests on his loan, with the rest reinvested in his business.
