A loan of $1,175 helped edward plans to use his loan to buy more cement and hardware for his store.

Edward's story

Check out that warm smile. That’s the real thing! Edward is the proud owner of the Glory Hardware Store in Lugazi, a village half way between Zampala and Jinji, the source of the Nile. Lugazi is one of those special places where life doesn’t go too fast and everyone knows everyone. You can walk down the middle of the street and the only thing coming your way will be children and other pedestrians.

In his well organized hardware store, which he has operated for six years, Edward sells cement, nails, paint, chain, rope, wire, etc. He has a very good location, smiles and laughs easily, and is very friendly to everyone. He is married with 4 children and he also cares for 3 orphans. With his loan, he plans to buy more cement and hardware for his store. There are no concrete trucks to deliver large quantities of concrete, so cement in bags is mixed with sand and gravel to build even large commercial buildings. So, hardware stores can sell large quantities of cement.
