A loan of $2,250 helped a member to buy a fryer to make Broaster-style chicken and for a load of potatoes.

Maranatha De Panamericana Group's story

The “Maranatha de Panamericana” communal bank is starting its first cycle in the Panamericana Focal Center. It has 8 members. The governing body has Lourdes as President, Salustiana as treasurer and Vicky as Recording Secretary. The women’s businesses are varied. Among them are: food sales, eatery, jacket manufacturing, grocery sales, crafts sales, machine knitting, new clothing sales, store-based telephone call services and vegetable sales. Lourdes, President of “Maranatha de Panamericana” communal bank is a young woman with experience working in communal associations. She comments that she was in the Los Andes Focal Center for 8 cycles. For the last year and a half she’s been selling food; she used to sell clothes. She sells food near the El Carmen Market in an eatery she leased for that purpose. With the loan she’s requesting now she wants to buy a machine to make Broaster-style chicken; she’ll use whatever’s left over to buy a load of potatoes and soft drinks at wholesale. For now, her mother helps her tend to the eatery because she has to divide her time between the business and her family.

In this group: Lourdes, Miguelina, Rossemary, Salustiana, Vicky, Veronica, Domitilia, Carlota
