Tomasa's story

Tomasa is 48 years old. She is a hardworking woman who lives with her 18-year old son Jhon. She is a single mother who lives with her son in a house that is her own. It is located in Puente Paucartambo (the central Peruvian jungle). This hardworking woman's business is the sale of prepared foods from a large restaurant located at the entrance of the bridge. Every morning during the week she prepares Creole foods. But during the month of April, during the coffee harvest, she prepares traditional foods for the laborers who work in the region. She manages to earn an average of 100 nuevos soles. This is how she will soon be able to move to the new restaurant she is having built. It is larger and it is improved in the construction. She belongs to the communal bank named "Comerciantes". This is her first loan with MFP (Kiva Field Partner) and she is certain she will achieve her goals. Tomasa will invest the loan she requests in the purchase of sacks of rice, sugar, and other ingredients she needs to prepare foods daily.
