A loan of $225 helped to buy 30 crates of fruit.

Jivia's story

Jivia is a 35 year-old woman. As a single mother, she cares for her 4 minor children with a lot of love in her own home, located in Puente Paucartambo (in the central Peruvian rainforest.) For the last 8 years she has gotten up early every morning and gone to a post that she has on the side of the bridge where she sells tamales, drinks made from different fruits, and occasionally, dishes that are typical of the area. On Saturdays and Sundays she generates net earnings of 100 Peruvian soles a day. Her main ambition and desire is to be able to improve her business, so that she can have higher earnings that would allow her to cover the expenses of her children, because with the stipend that she receives from her ex-husband she cannot provide them with a good education. She belongs to the communal bank "Comerciantes," and this is their 5th loan cycle with MFP. She is one of the members who is most committed to the development of her association. Jivia travels constantly to the markets that are held in the cities of Villa Rica and Oxapampa. With this loan she will buy 30 crates of fruits of all varieties, to sell to the residents in her area.
