A loan of $350 helped to purchase agricultural products.

Jaoquin's story

Joaquin, 60 years old, was born in Rodeo, a community located in Pueblo Nuevo, 13 kilometers from the municipality of Esteli. He is married, the father of 7 children, and he is an agriculturist by trade, an occupation he has had for about 46 years. He started working in agriculture when he was 12 years old, to help his father who was poor and to secure nutrition. He didn't go to school. When he was 26 years old he became independent and purchased a plot of land with the money he earned working the fields.

Today he cultivates corn and beans, sowing in the winter and the summer because his fields have a source of water.

He requests a loan to purchase 2 packages of urea, 1 package of complete fertilizer, and to cover labor costs. The loan will help him secure a good corn harvest.

Among his plans for the future is to keep cultivating the land. His next goal is to purchase another plot of land and to purchase 2 bulls to avoid paying to have the land tilled. His goal is to provide his children with a dignified home for them to live and to support them in their studies, something he was not able to do.
