A loan of $575 helped to buy pigs and guinea pigs.

Carmen Rosalina's story

Señora Carmen P. is a member of the Nuevo Porvenir community bank. She lives in the Floresta community in the parish of Cumbe, where the weather is cold. The people from her community are traders, farmers and animal breeders. Many of them have moved away in search of work so that they can provide their children with a better future.

Señora Carmen is 36 years old, married and has a three-year-old daughter. Her husband works in construction as a master bricklayer. They do not have their own house, so they live at home with their parents, but independently.

Señora Carmen takes care of the household chores and she also raises animals such as pigs and guinea pigs, which she sells in the community.

She has been a member of the community bank for 13 years and she likes it because she has some very good friends who attend the meetings with her. She will invest the money from the loan in the purchase of animals so that her business can grow. It is her dream to have her own home.
