A loan of $675 helped purchase groceries, sodas, water, potatoes, and other items for her fast food business.

Mayra Alexandra's story

Sra. Mayra T. is a member of the Communal Bank “Sol Naciente” (Rising Sun). She lives in the sector of Miraflores in the city of Cuenca. This city is admired for its architectural beauty, which contributed toward its recognition as a World Heritage Site. The natural beauty, different cuisines, and the kind friendly people are all characteristics that make Cuenca a lovely city.

Doña Mayra is 32 years old, married, and has three children (ages 14, 13, and 9). Her first two children are in high school while the youngest child attends a school in the city. Her husband works in his own shop where he makes stucco (used for installing raised ceilings). They do not own a home, so they live at the house of a relative.

Doña Mayra provides housekeeping services to different families. She has held this job for a long time and works Monday through Friday on a specified schedule. On the weekends, she manages a small business selling fast food.

The money from her loan will be invested in her business. She will buy groceries, sodas, water, potatoes, and other items. Mayra joined the Communal Bank two and a half years ago. Throughout that time, the loans have enabled her to grow her business gradually. Her goal is to have a house of her own.
