Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $475 helped to buy dirt, clay and firewood to make bricks.

Elena's story

Elena is a member of the Kausachun communal bank. She’s married, 30 years old and has three children whose ages are 9, 7 and 1.

Elena makes bricks in the community of Compañía that she sells in the same community.

She will use the requested loan to buy materials used to make bricks: dirt, clay and firewood.

Elena joined Finca Perú invited by a sister-in-law. She likes it because they give her loans and she can save. With her savings she was able to buy furniture for the comfort of her children.

Her dream is that the business grows and to be able to help provide an education for her children.
