A loan of $275 helped a member additional capital for guso production.


Gina Carba Group's story

Gina C. is from Malaubang, Ozamiz City. She is 38 years old, married, and has three school-aged children. Gina is the group leader of a three-member group loan offered by PMPC. While each member receives an individual loan, they are all responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. The official name of this borrowing group is Gina C.’s Group.

To make a living, she owns and operates a guso production business (propagation of seaweed) and a sari-sari store, from which she sells to her neighbors and friends. She has been engaged in this business for ten years and earns approximately $75 a month.

In 2011, Gina joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. She is requesting a loan of 5,000 PHP which will be used as additional capital for her guso production business. This will be her 1st loan from PMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the living standards of her family.
