A loan of $725 helped to buy ingredients like butter and flour to make more snacks.

Edis's story

Edis is a 49 year old woman living with her husband, Serafín, and their two children in the house she inherited from her mother in the city of La Merced (Peruvian central jungle). Her passion is “cooking” and it’s also the activity that generates economic stability for Edis. For the last three years juice sellers in the city have been buying her delicious turnovers every morning because they are so delicious and they generate a lot of demand among the customers. She sells a daily average of 50 to 60 turnovers. In addition, this tireless woman works nights in a typical restaurant cooking meals to order. Now, she plans to save up the necessary capital to open a restaurant of her own so that she’ll be well known and admired.

She’s a member of the “Las Optimistas” (The Optimistic Ones) communal bank and this is the fourth loan with MFP where she is a laborious collaborator. In the upcoming months Edis will start to sell her turnovers in greater amounts so is planning to use the loan to buy several sacks of flour, butter at wholesale and the other ingredients she needs to make these delicious snacks
