Rima Group's story

Esperance N. is a 30 year old businesswoman who lives in the village of Rugombo in the Cibitoke Province in western Burundi. She has been managing a restaurant in the commercial district of Rugombo for 3 years. Before the restaurant, she was in the business of selling basic food items. She studied until 6th grade. She is divorced and the mother of a daughter who is 11 years old and a boy who is 10 years old. She is in her seventh round of community borrowing with the Turame group. She is asking for the Kiva loan to increase the business' capital for the expansion of the restaurant by purchasing large quantities of food items to sell to its clients and to also increase their ability to save money. She hopes that with these savings, she will be able to support her family's needs and build her own home. She is a member of the community group "Rima."
