Sartawi De San Roque Group's story

The "SARTAWI DE SAN ROQUE" communal bank will begin its second year in Pro Mujer as part the the Panamerican Focal Center. The group has eight members and is lead by a board of directors with Mrs. Concepción as president, Mrs. Josefa as Treasurer and Mrs. Santusa as secretary. The members' businesses are varied and include sales of: wine, knit sweaters, macrame blankets, clothing fabric, groceries and vegetables.

Mrs. Josefa, the treasurer of the communal association, has been a member of the "SARTAWI DE SAN ROQUE" group for approximately one year. She requested her first loan to start her business of knitted children's clothing. Now she has the opportunity to set up a shop in her own home and needs a loan to stock the shop. Because of the time needed to run the business her oldest daughters will help her. Mrs. Josefa is married and the mother of seven children. She feels being able to run the shop will help her attend to her children's needs.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says its the companionship she shares with other members.

In this group: Josefa, Elesabeth, Francisca, Santusa, Concepcion, Adela, Virginia, Juan
