A loan of $375 helped purchase a new booth to offer phone service.

Carmen's story

Carmen, 46, is a very hardworking woman. She lives in her own house with her three children, whom she supports on her own because she has been separated from her husband for a long time.

Carmen was able to come back from the failure of her suitcase store, which she could not run because she was ill. Seeing the market in the city of Tarma, she decided to rent a store and install phone booth service there. Many people now come to her business, which makes it very profitable and beneficial to her. What she likes most about her work is helping her customers, and this is what she teaches her children, who run the phone booth service when she is not there. She has been doing this for two years and hopes that her business will grow and give her a better income.

This is Carmen's eleventh loan with MFP. She knows she must make her payments on time, and she is ready to do so because she does not want to hurt her communal bank, where she is well-loved for the comradeship she shows. With the thousand new soles she asked for, she will buy a new booth so she can serve more customers at the same time.
