Julia's story

Julia W. M. is a married woman. She and her husband have four children aged between thirteen years old and one year old.

Julia's business is located at Mikindani estate in Mombasa, Kenya. Mombasa is the coastal region of Kenya and is well known for its many tourist attraction sites and its Indian Ocean white beaches. Julia owns a fruit and vegetable kiosk. In addition to this, she also has a business charging batteries. They also own rental houses which her husband manages.

Julia has been in business for the last nine years and has managed to provide employment to one person. She says that business is profitable and the major challenge she has is financial constraint. However, she works very hard to keep her business doing well. She is using her loan of Kes 70,000 to buy more fruits and vegetables and to add water pipes and taps to their rental houses. She hopes to be a wholesaler in the future.
