A loan of $1,100 helped to hire laborers to clear weeds from her fields and also to buy a hulling machine.

Ysabel's story

Ysabel, 60, is from San Miguel district. She’s married to Teofilo, 58, and they have four children. They live together in their own house in the community of Pampahuasi in Samugari. With great effort Ysabel and her husband have managed to till their lands making them very productive. Ysabel grows cocoa beans, coffee and coca leaf which are economically sustainable products. During harvest time Ysabel has to hire helpers in order to quickly harvest the fruits and transport the heavy sacks from her fields to the community of Pampahuasi.

She has been working in agriculture for 35 years and she knows its requirements. What she enjoys most about the work is caring for her crops since her income depends on them. Her future plans are to mix in enough manure into the soil to make them very productive for her crops.

This is her second individual loan and she’s also a member of her communal bank; she is very responsible with respect to payment schedules to MFP. She feels the loan will help her very much in her work’s progress.

She will use the requested 3000 new soles to hire laborers to clear weeds and will buy a hulling machine to extract the coffee beans.
