Johnson's story

Johnson N. C. is thirty one years old, married and has two children aged eight years old and five years old. His business is located at a very busy market known as Likoni in Mombasa, Kenya. Mombasa is the coastal region of Kenya and is well known for its many many tourist attraction sites not forgetting the Indian ocean white beaches.

He owns a general store in which he sells such items as cooking fat, beverages, cereals and other items to the local people. He has been in this business for the last ten years now and has managed to provide employment to three people. He says that this business is profitable and the major challenge he has are financial constraints and dishonest customers who purchase on credit and fail to honor their request. However, he works very hard to keep his business doing well.

He is using his loan of Kes 50,000 to increase the stock of general items to grow his business and meet the demands of his customers. He hopes to be a wholesaler in future. He describes himself as a very creative man.
