Rosa Alicia's story

Rosa is a member of the “Túpac Amaru” communal bank located in Yunguyo district, Yunguyo province, Puno department. She is 26 years old, lives with partner and has a son. Rosa was able to start middle school but did not finish it.

She travels weekly to La Paz, Bolivia to take a variety of products listed below: tunta (processed potato), chuño, (processed potato), blankets and sometimes fish. She buys the blankets in Juliaca and the rest of the products in Desaguadero.

She’s been collaborating with Manuela Ramos Movement for a year. Her initial loan was for 500 new soles that she used to buy five arrobas (1 arroba=11.5 kilos) of white chuño. She will use this 1500 new sol loan to buy four quintals of tunta to continue growing with her business.

Her dream is to improve her business more and more each time. What she likes about the communal bank is the training and the profits on savings.
