A loan of $550 helped to buy bags of fertilizer.

Raquel's story

32-year old Raquel is separated and lives with her son in her parents’ house. She has worked in farming ever since she was a young girl. Her parents taught her how to farm, and today this is how she earns her living. Every day she makes an effort to make improvements to the house, and she helps her parents a great deal in their fields as well as her own where she grows potatoes, corn, and alfalfa.

It helps Raquel greatly that the whole family participates at seed sowing and harvest time. She sells the produce at the local wholesale market. It’s a profitable business and she gets a good income from it.

Raquel’s goal is to acquire more land so she can have a better future. This is her ninth loan with Kiva partner MFP. She is happy to know that she has this financial support; she has always been very responsible with the repayments. Guillerma is grateful to be part of her community bank because all the members are responsible committed people. Likewise she is grateful to the donors who provide the loan money which will help greatly with the progress of her farm.

She plans to use the loan to buy bags of fertilizer for the potato and alfalfa crops.
