A loan of $2,325 helped a member to buy sawdust and firewood.

Walisuma Group's story

The 'Walisuma' community bank is beginning its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Villa Exaltación regional office. The group has eight members. On the day of the meeting a woman was present who was accompanying one of the group members. For this reason, there are 9 people in the photo

The 'Walisuma' community bank is managed by an executive committee led by a president, Fidela. The bank's members have different businesses such as: working in a guest house, making traditional skirts, selling bricks, selling cell phones and knitting bedspreads.

Fidela, the bank's president, says that she has been a member of the 'Walisuma' community bank for one loan cycle but she was previously a member of another group for one loan cycle too. This means that she has been a client of Pro Mujer for approximately one year. This is the length of time she has had her brick selling business. Fidela makes bricks because she saw that it is a profitable business. She used to work in a guest house. She will use this loan to buy sawdust and firewood, fuel that she uses to bake her bricks. She makes her sales in Villa Exaltación district, Av. Aroma.

When we asked her what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replied that she likes the loans.

In this group: Fidela, Jeanneth, Lucia, Teodora, Marisol , Victoria, Ruddy Juan, Belrlran Patricia
