Elena's story

Elena is a member of Las Collabinas communal bank in the Ilave district, El Collao province, Puno department. She is 48, in a common-law marriage, has 2 children (1 an adult) and she studied through secondary school. Four months ago she started working with the Manuela Ramos Moviment. Her first loan was for 500 new sols which she used for her business of cattle and sheep sales.

With this loan of 1,500 new sols, she wil buy 2 cows and also wool that she uses to knit sweaters, hats, embroidery and, cushion covers. Her husband helps with expenses as well with his work as a magistrate.

Her dream is to improve her business and get better earnings.

What she likes about the communal bank are the meetings, the punctuality, and the friendly exchanges among the other members.
