A loan of $1,100 helped to buy bales of second-hand clothing.

Magda's story

Magda belongs to the communal bank "Esmeralda," in the Tarapoto district of the province and department of San Martin. She is 58 years old, single, and has four independent children.

Magda has a business selling second-hand clothing and cosmetics from the Unique line. She has a regular base of customers who know her and know of her business. She also sells door-to-door, offering her beauty products to friends who live nearby, who are reliable customers and with whom she keeps a good relationship. Her strength and perseverance helped her to grow as an independent woman, and she is very proud of what she has achieved, since she generates her own monthly income, which she uses to make her monthly payments to her communal bank. Magda, with her dedication and effort, is an enterprising woman who, at her age, feels capable of continuing to realize her dreams.

With this loan of 3,000 Peruvian soles, she will buy bales of clothing for women, men and children such as: different colors of pants, shorts, sneakers, blouses in all sizes and models, polo shirts and dresses. She will also invest part of the money in beauty products, to increase her inventories and her offerings to her customers.

She says "I am grateful for the opportunity that the Movimiento Manuela Ramos organization is offering me through the loans that will help me to develop as a woman and small businesswoman. In addition, the "Micro" (life) insurance the organization offers gives me peace of mind since if anything unexpected happened to me my children would not be left without support, and this also encourages other women to join the organization so that they can access this product for the minimal sum of one Peruvian sol.
