A loan of $550 helped to buy food products and other products.

Maria's story

Maria is one of our small businesswomen who has strengthened her business through several loans that she has taken out with us. She is currently receiving her fourth loan, having paid back her previous loans correctly and invested them all in her business. She started her business with a small amount of money that she had saved up approximately 8 years ago. She decided to request her first loan to set up her 'colmado'. In the Dominican Republic, 'colmados' are small neighborhood or community stores that sell food products so that locals can buy their food there.

Maria is married and has 3 children. She spends her days serving in her business and looking after her family. She is planning to use this loan to buy cosmetics and miscellaneous products for a counter that she has set up so that she can supply her neighbors with these products too.

Maria's dream is to have a stable and sustainable business. She would like to thank everybody for their support both on her own behalf and also on behalf of her group. Thank you.
