A loan of $725 helped buy pea seeds.

Marcelina's story

Marcelina is a young mother, 30 years old. Her family is made up of her husband, Javier, and their 3 young children, who they care for with much dedication in their own home, located in the village of Pongo. Her principal economic activity is agriculturally-based; in spite of her short 7 years of experience, her lettuce, pea and corn crops are the best in the region. "It is paramount when taking care of the plantings to dedicate time to them", she says. For that reason in each field her crops already have buyers. The wholesalers visit her farm lands to see the growth of their plantings, and to take away the whole harvest. Since she has to market through middlemen, she is getting together money to be able to buy a truck, so that she can market her own products herself. She is part of the village bank "Paraiso al progreso" and this is her third credit with MFP, where she is punctual and responsible with the payments they make to the association. In the next month, Marcelina will harvest lettuce, so she is thinking of buying pea seeds to spread on the farmlands that she will harvest from soon.
