Progresando Hacia Adelante 1 & 4 Group's story

María belongs to the Progresando Hacia Adelante (Progressing Forward) group which is composed of nine women and one man who are all small businesspeople in the city of San Pedro D. Macoris, a city in the east of the Dominican Republic, surrounded by sugar cane fields and the Caribbean Sea.

María is a single mother of two children who live with her in her humble aboD. in a community of scarce resources located in the city’s outskirts. She has worked hard to proviD. her children with everything they have needed like education, clothing and food. She hopes to improve her dwelling in order to live more securely and with peace of mind.

María’s business is a small grocery store where she daily sells food like rice, meat and sugar, among other daily use foodstuffs. She is receiving her 7th loan in Esperanza, having invested her previous loans for almost four years repaying each satisfactorily.

María will use this loan to buy merchandise like rice, oil, soft drinks, sugar and canned goods, among others, with the goal of growing and earning good savings to expand the business and improve her dwelling. María gives her own and her group's thanks to everyone for their support.
