A loan of $850 helped to buy a 2 meter-long table, 2 large benches, 1 plastic tablecloth, 2 dishes, half a dozen 1/2 liter glass pitchers and a large umbrella for the winter.

Hortencia's story

Hortencia is a member of the "Mujeres Solidarias" (Supportive Women) community bank which is located in Calleria district, in Ucayali department. She is 56 years old and has three children (two are grown up and one is still in her care).

Hortencia's business is selling fire-roasted food. It is work that doesn't make much profit but it makes enough to cover all her basic needs and enough that she is able to continue working.

Hortencia will use this new loan for 2,300 Peruvian soles to buy a 2 meter-long table and 2 large benches, 1 plastic tablecloth, 2 dishes, half a dozen 1/2 liter glass pitchers, a large umbrella for the winter and some other small things that she needs.

Hortencia would like to continue working so that she can provide her son with an education without him wanting for anything. An education is the only inheritance she has to leave her son and she says that she will achieve it thanks to Manuela Ramos
