A loan of $925 helped to repair her business’ floor and roof.

Doris's story

Doris is a member of the María Montessori communal bank in Callería district, Ucayali department. She is 54 years old, married and has 5 adult children.

Doris has been part of the Manuela Ramos family, who welcomed her into one of the many communal banks it has, for just two years.

Doris sells typical Peruvian dishes like: Juanes, grilled fish, grilled chicken, bananas, tacacho, in an ambulatory fashion on the sidewalk outside her house every day during the evening because she’s the only breadwinner for her home since her husband is disabled.

With this 2500 new sol loan she will invest in improving her site. She will have a piece of flooring made and will extend her roof a bit because when it rains she can’t continue selling. She will buy 5 sheets of plywood, 3 sacks of cement, 6 ribbons, ½ kilo of plywood nails, ½ of 3-inch nails, 1 meter of gravel and will pay labor costs.

Doris is happy because she works to cover household expenses while being alongside her husband who needs her quite a lot.
