Mumtaz lives in Okara, a small city in Pakistan known for its agriculture industry. She lives with her family in a 2-room brick house in the small colony called Tariq.

Mumtaz is 43 years old. She is married to S. A., who is an embroidery expert. His shop is located in the market where he offers his clients his embroidery skills. He makes embroidery by hand and also with an embroidery machine. He crafts beautiful embroidery designs on clothes, which help attract more customers to his shop.

Mumtaz is also very good in embroidery. She offers services to her community clients. She started this business 10 years ago to financially support her family and it is working well for her. She is also a very good administrator – she manages her household expenses very well and fulfills her household work effectively.

Mumtaz has given birth to 6 children: 2 sons and 4 daughters. Her eldest son works in a private factory and her elder daughter helps her in the embroidery business. Only one of her children is able to get education. He is 12 years old and is studying in the 5th class.

Mumtaz has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah to improve her embroidery business. With the loan, she will purchase an embroidery machine to help her finish orders on time and produce quality work. She hopes her business will further improve after the loan investment.
